  • One thing to remember about seeking therapy: Just because one thing or one person doesn't work, don't give up - there are more choices out there and you have to keep searching until you find the right one for you. The first therapist I visited (after spending years getting up the courage to go) asked me if I drank (alcohol). When I said, "Yes" she said "Well, maybe you just need to quit drinking. Alcohol is a depressant." I could only gape at her in disbelief - this was a licensed psychologist! It took me more than a year to re-gain the guts to try someone else but I was more than happy when I did as he was really helpful.
